A note on body image

We are former athletes, fitness instructors, personal trainers and recreationalists that love a good sweat sesh and really enjoy taking care of ourselves. Our love for exercise and a strong, healthy body is what inspired us to start this company in the first place.

We've also grown up feeling pressures from the outside world to look a certain way, fit into a certain pant size, or eat less and exercise more for that "perfect body".

TBH, we're pretty sick of it.

One of our goals at Après is to help change the conversation we have around fitness and our bodies. In our opinion, fitness is not about pounding away on the treadmill to be skinny or punishing ourselves for the cake we ate last night. We believe fitness and health is about building confidence, strengthening muscles, easing anxiety, and connecting with a like-minded community.Lena Dunham said it perfectly in an Instagram caption recently, "It ain’t about the ass, it’s about the brain.” Amen, sister!

So our proposition is this -- together, let's change the conversation we have with our body and look to fitness and wellness for strength, empowerment and friendship, not a smaller dress size. Let's talk about how fitness makes us more present for our families, more focused at work, stronger in life, and more energized throughout our day. Let's start to talk to our bodies like we do our best friends. Let's feed ourselves with nourishing foods that make us glow (sometimes that's kale and sometimes that's a chocolate cookie!). Let's slow our roll a little bit and give our body the rest it needs so that we can be our best selves.

Let's use fitness to uncover our best selves, because the best version of each one of us is not defined by a number on a scale or our body fat percentage.
