We're here to take you “behind the marble” to give you a better understanding of our product, how it was designed, why we selected certain ingredients and the story behind why it took so long to make.
Today, we are talking a little bit more about our purpose (why are we even here?) and then why it was so important to us to use the very best plant-based ingredients.
The Perfect Post-Workout Snack
Après was born out of a specific need for a post workout snack with clean ingredients that didn't compromise on convenience. We were tired of finishing a workout and then running off to attack a laundry list of to-do's without the proper fuel to get things done. Over time, as we were developing the product and testing it with friends and family, we realized that there were so many use cases outside of post-workout where Après would be helpful -- as a light breakfast when you're running short on time, between errands and your next meeting, or when that sweet tooth strikes. We like to think of Après as a liquid snack bar; just the right amount of calories and nutrition to buy you time until your next meal, whether or not that's post workout.
The Best of Plant-Based
We created our product with a clearly defined customer which made decisions around trade-offs pretty easy. One of the most important things to our consumer, and in turn to us, is to always use the very best ingredients possible. So, we made a promise to ourselves that even if that meant spending more money and time sourcing ingredients, we wouldn't stray from our standards. We ended up spending tens of thousands of dollars and more than a year and a half developing our product to stay true to our goal and create the very best product possible.
Part of what took so long and proved very costly was making sure that all of our ingredient suppliers met our strict standards (non-gmo, gluten free, soy free, dairy free, kosher, and low sugar). Each supplier went through an in-depth vetting process and was required to adhere to our QA standards. Each ingredient that we've selected was identified as the very best from a nutrition and taste perspective. Even though this process took much longer than anticipated, and our ingredients are more expensive, in our minds, it's worth it.
